Best Bang-for-the-Buck AV/TV System Remote
[...]Purchased the Sofabaton U2 remote about a week ago and have been having fun learning and using all it powerful capabilities. Bottom line: Great price for a remote to replace all your other remotes including both IR and Bluetooth. Probably 4 1/2 stars. If it had a hub, then it would get 5 stars.Details: Out of the box, easily connected to the Sofabaton app and started adding devices. Added DVR, AppleTV, Samsung TV and Audio System. Their code base picked up all my components with all the buttons working as advertised. Because this remote won’t look exactly like your other component remotes, it is easily configured/programmed for the specific functions you want to add.If you don’t do anything else, this remote can replace all your other remotes. But the real power lies in the macros and other customizable features. For example, turning on entire system to TV or DVR or AppleTV or DVD or ??? Normally you’d have to do each component separately (not just power but the right input and output). Cable companies provide remotes that can do this but are a challenge to program for the novice (most of us). This U2 is visual programming for anyone.After creating a couple of macros using the colored keys at the bottom and a few others, the remote is seamless in function. If you need to change the macro or key or function, again, easy to connect to your Sofabaton app on your phone (iPhone or Android). Really like the direct access number pad for going straight to your preferred TV channel or entering information.Maybe the best part of the great price point for all the value. Only drawback is it is essentially line of sight for IR. If you can use Bluetooth, then line-of-sight is not longer required.

Needs backlit keys
[...]Ran into multiple issues, the biggest being that my amp WAS listed – but when I picked it, there was an error and the profile wasn’t loaded. I tried programing the buttons I use but later learned that hitting volume up once was different than holding that button. Also, I change the input on the amp all the time and there’s no button like that on the remote – which is okay, I can just program that to one of the colored buttons maybe… which brings me to the unacceptable issue. Even if I could program each button, there’s no way I could find the right button in the dark. They will either have to backlight the buttons or start from scratch. Which may sound brutal for a remote under fifty, but it either replaces all your remotes or it doesn’t and this one isn’t even close.

However’ you can correct buttons individually or even contact the support team directly in the app. I tried this tonight and they said they would try adjusting the code for my specific model. It has all of my devices that I own in their database so no problems there. I like the feel and build quality and it’s run on two double A batteries. Everything setup wise was detailed and easy to follow in the app and gave me no issues. Overall if give it a solid 8/10 review.

Terrible Product
[...]This has to be the most unfriendly remote I have ever purchased. The fact that you have to use an app to start the remote is the first red flag. Then the pairing with new products is next to impossible. You can tell it is cheaply made with very little technology added. Very cumbersome to set up. It should be easy to set up and use. That is the point. This product fails miserably on both. And I am well versed in technology and how to use it.

[...]UPDATE: They sent me a new remote with a personal tech person. I was able to get it to work as I wanted with his help. He gave me codes to fix the buttons being too sensitive. I got codes so now my Logitech works with my Home Theater so I did not try to set up macros. My advice is that if you need a remote that performs on multiple devices, this unit will fill your needs. They have excellent tech support that will fix your issue.I had read all positive reviews. Then a few days ago and I saw a tech article giving this item bad reviews. I had already ordered the remote. I dismissed the Tech review, some of them are too critical. A few years ago, I saw a critical review of a Garmin GPS because it was too thin. I guess they had to write something negative.I was hoping from what I read here that this remote would replace my Logitech which did not work with my new dumb as a rock smart TV. I soooo miss my Logitech. Logitech, PLEASE get back in the remote business. This remote did not have codes for Onkyo receivers, one of the best selling brands in the USA. The buttons are way toooooooooo sensitive. Everytime I pushed a number button, it repeated it.I have a home theater which is why I need the remote. I needed it to switch HDMI connections and inputs. This remote does not do that. There aren’t any instructions on how to set up a “routine”. My Logitech remote, I tapped “Watch TV” or Watch DVD’ and it would turn on all the devices and switch to the appropriate inputs and ports. This does not do that. It has a clunky wheel you scroll for each function. If you have cable or satellite as your provider, there isn’t a dedicated “Guide” or “DVR” button.This functions the same as any $10.00 remote. If you just have streaming services, this is just a fancy remote. This remote is absolutely worthless if you have a home theater.
